Dr. Ann Saffi Biasetti
is a somatic psychotherapist, author, educator, and pioneer in the field of embodiment and eating disorder recovery.
Ann Saffi Biasetti, PhD, is a somatic psychotherapist, author, educator, and pioneer in the field of embodiment and eating disorder recovery. With more than three decades of clinical experience, her work centers on helping individuals heal their relationship with their bodies through a trauma informed, compassionate, and deeply embodied approach. She is the founder of An Embodied Life and creator of Befriending Your Body™, one of the first somatic self compassion recovery programs designed specifically for healing disordered eating and body image disturbance.
Drawing from psychology, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, yoga therapy, and somatic practice, Ann’s work emphasizes the body as an essential part of healing rather than something to overcome or control. Her approach integrates embodiment, self compassion, and relational care, supporting individuals in reconnecting with their internal experience and developing greater safety, trust, and resilience within themselves. She is particularly interested in how trauma, shame, and disconnection shape one’s relationship with the body, and how healing can emerge through gentle awareness and embodied presence.
Ann is the author of Befriending Your Body: A Self Compassionate Approach to Freeing Yourself from Disordered Eating, as well as other works focused on embodiment and recovery. In addition to her clinical work, she offers trainings and consultation for therapists and professionals seeking to integrate somatic and trauma informed approaches into their practice. Through her writing, teaching, and therapeutic work, Ann invites a more compassionate and connected way of inhabiting the body, one rooted not in perfection, but in presence, relationship, and wholeness.
