Joy Dorsey

Is an Eating Disorder Recovery Coach who brings empathy, warmth, and a deeply human touch to her work with individuals—adults, adolescents, and their families—navigating the complexities of eating disorder recovery.

Joy’s approach is shaped by her personal experiences with disordered eating, substance challenges, and a quest for positive self-image, leading her to a place of recovery and deep understanding. Joy’s professional path has been richly informed by these experiences. She has trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Eating Disorders under the guidance of internationally acclaimed psychologist Dr. Anita Federici, in collaboration with Sick Kids Hospital. Her three years working in an intensive outpatient setting at a private center in Toronto provided her with valuable insight into the complexities of recovery in a clinical environment. In 2019, Joy’s life took another unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. This experience challenged her concept of wellness and reinforced her resilience and empathy. Following her recovery, she and her husband moved from southern Ontario to the peaceful north shore of Lake Huron in 2021, embracing a life surrounded by nature. In her coaching sessions, Joy goes beyond addressing eating habits. She helps clients explore self-perception and work toward not just recovery, but a life of thriving. She also dedicates herself to working with families, fostering communication, understanding, and more supportive relationships.
